OPEBI YOUTH CARNIVAL

PLAYERS DURING THE MOCK UEFAThe much awaited Opebi Youth Carnival finally took place on the 1st of January, 2010.
The carnival was used to lend a helping hand to the widows in Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area. The ceremony attracted eminent personality like the Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo,Hon. Idowu Obasa, the Secretary to the Local Council Development Area, Hon. Bolade Rufai, the Opebi Community Development Area, Chairman Chief Olabode, stakeholders of the Local Council Development Area, and other important personalities.
Gifts were given to widows during the event.The boss  addressed  the good people of Opebi on the activities of his administration during the year and challenged them to rise and fight for their rights anytime they feel they are not getting enough from his administration.
This years’ carnival also gave way to a three aside mock UEFA championship competition organized by the special adviser to the Chairman of Onigbongbo on Sports, Mr. Kayode Opeyemi, was played at round Crubbin. The Manchester United FC of Opebi won, and Cash prizes were given to the two finalists.
The carnival proper started at about 8.00p.m with various upcoming talents in the music industry coming on stage to showcase their various talents. It was a dance affair with party tranquility maintained till the second day of January.
This year carnival as stated by the president of the association, Mr. Lekan Thomas, shall be an opener to another chapter with the Youth affairs within Opebi Community.
The carnival came into emergence  ten years ago and it has produced  leaders like Hon. Bolade Rufai, Secretary to the Local Government, Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Mr. Kayode Opayemi, Special Adviser on Sports, Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Folu Omotosho, Opebi Youths Leader and a host of others.
